Wailing Heights

Outsider games a small indie studio brings us Wailing heights, a body-hopping musical adventure set in a fictional world where werewolfs, vampires and ghosts interact with one another. This isn't there first outing, in late 2017 they have announced another game in the works called Jennifer Wilde and it seems to carry on what made wailing heights such an enjoyable game.

Unlike other point and click games this uses the unique ability to swap host bodies and it changes up the gameplay a lot. Certain characters needs to interact with others a certain way or at a certain time. It really makes you think and it takes you back to the glory days of point and clicks like the monkey island series or almost anything Lucasarts has developed in those early years.

While this running around can be tiring at times and figuring out which character you need to progress the story. Some sections can feel like you've done everything and picked up everything but you just cant figure out what you need. This thankfully doesn't happen a lot and most events needed to progress the story isn't that far fetched and you will figure it out fairly easy.

The shell shaded graphics also looks really well done, while games like telltale's The walking dead just ends up looking really dull and off putting. Then there's this game bursting with bright colours and very little dark lines just making it stand out and making it look that much better. At times I also noticed the game wouldn't work properly and I would run into some very weird glitches. I had to download a patch a day after release just so I could carry on with my playthrough however , once the patch was downloaded the game worked like a charm again and it was pretty smooth sailing from there.

While at first this game might not look like it has much going for it, I can honestly for what its worth its definitely worth a pick up. Its riddles with pop culture and other popular games references it just adds a bit more to the game. Its on the short end but the experience is worth it.

I rate this a 7/10
