League of evil is brought to us by Woblyware the mastermind behind Omega strike a game we had previously reviewed on site. There is only one man behind all these games and it is truly amazing ow many he has released already. One thing I appreciate about this one man army is how different his games is, most have them share the art style so you know its his game. However they aren't the same genre, while Omega strike is a metroidvania/ run and gun this one is a bit different lets talk about it.
League of Evil is an action game where you, as a bionic super agent take on the mission to defeat the League of Evil. Use your acrobatic skills to punch your way through levels filled with deadly traps and defeat your enemies. The world is counting on you! At first I thought this was game was Omega strike but just renamed till I saw it was completely different. It is a platformer heavily in spired by games like Super meat boy just because of the level of difficulty and the quickness of how you respawn. That's one thing I love about these games is the difficulty there are so many times where certain parts of levels seem impossible, but when you start thinking and using the tactics the game has taught you. It feels so good when you just overcome that with just stupid retries and this game does that so well. That's why it reminded me of Super meat boy right away. The game also has 180 levels to get through, most levels are mostly the same but they do provide enough of a challenge to be fun.
There are certain platformer tropes that I just hate in most platformers, like moving platforms with spikes on it or spikes on the floor and ceiling and you have to jump in between that. To make a platformer fun it doesn't need to be really hard. I also feel like since it is platformer certain things like double jumping needs to work properly. At times I felt like I needed to hit jump twice quickly like I couldn't delay it at all. This made lots of levels harder because the jump didn't work properly.
While this game might b very linear in that sense I do feel like picking would be a good idea. In terms of it being a platformer it is very good, apart from certain mechanics not working as intended. Other than that its a solid game with lots of fine to be had with lots of content to get through.
I rate this a 6/10
