Pizza Titan Ultra

Breakfall a small a indie studio who has developed a whole host of titles like STARWHAL and Pizza Titan Ultra both previously on steam. Both also managed to find its way to xbox one and the most recent addition being Pizza Titan Ultra, how does it fair against most indie titles lets talk about it.

What is this game about , Pizza Titan Ultra is a fast paced 3rd-person action platformer focused on fighting and smashing through a futuristic city, in a giant mech, to deliver pizza. Deliver pizza to keep time on the clock, and battle through an army of evil robots from a former rival pizzeria! My first impressions on this was good I mean when do you get to play a video game where you deliver pizza but with a mech. Not many right? I was excited to play this because of the concept and I wasn't disappointed. The game is broken up into 8 story chapters and each chapter is broken into 3 missions and a challenge ,each mission also has its own unique objectives some easy than others but for the most part they are different enough.

The game also has a really in depth customization system, they didn't give any real benefit to the player but they did give you a chance to make your mech look as wacky as possible or even cosplay in a way. I didn't see any customizable parts inspired from popular movies or cartoons other than their previous games. It was still done extremely well with 80 different parts to change on your mech. The music was really catchy as well and I could tell they wrote it themselves , they even added lyrics to the main menu so you could sing along a small detail but it works. The art style was also chosen purposefully because it reminded me so much of Japanese cartoons and I feel that's what they were going for.

The game did suffer from massive framerate drops when in a challenge because its designed to make you fail eventually you will die or run out of time the challenge will end. The game does this by adding more baddies to the level and not just any baddies the hard to kill kind. It is then where the game slows down so much it becomes hard to move and it made later levels much tougher. The loading times were also way to long, easily 60 second load times and I tried to get every gold medal on all challenges so I replayed them a lot. It was so frustrating at times having to wait so long to get back into the challenges, this issue definitely needs addressing.

All things considered this was a solid experience and I enjoyed most of it. If it wasn't for the poor optimization of the game it would of been near perfect with the unique levels where most of them is different to the challenges being tough but manageable. I do think this game is worth checking out.

I rate this 7/10
